Zippos Circus

Updated: Jan 21

Zippos Circus.

Hello there! My name is Lauren along with my two girls we are Little Ladies London, we love to explore our beautiful city and have days out in and around our hometown.

We decided to kick off our new year with good old fashion fun and went along to Zippos Circus in Hyde Park, we purchased a family ticket which was £54 working out around £13.50pp which I felt was very reasonable for a day out in London. I was browsing things to do for the new year with children and came across Zippos Circus, it seems to come around the London areas fairly often, we were pleasantly surprised to see they had based themselves alongside winter wonder Hyde park from November 2023-January 2024. We booked our tickets around 4 weeks in advance and felt it would be the perfect way to kick off the new year! We were not disappointed...

The girls are finally at an age where they can sit happily for longer periods of time through performances. We took the London Underground to Hyde Park it's quite simple to use so travelling to the show was straightforward for us. As it was New Year's Day the streets and underground in and around the town centre was very busy the New Year's Day parade was well underway but with plenty of stewards, police and security the area felt extremely safe.

Zippos Circus has recently been awarded the Big Top Label award from the European Parliament, recognising them amongst the finest circuses in Europe.

As we approached the very spectacular tent that is home to Zippos Circus the girls became very excited as did I! A sense of nostalgia washed over me, I have fond memories of my grandmother taking me to the circus as a child and I really felt we was about to experience something very special.

The red and white tent pitched high into the sky, the flags blew wildly in the wind and the bright lights that spelt ZIPPOS radiated through the grey sky and light rain as beacon welcoming us into the grand tent.

The ambience around the tent was buzzing with shouts of “Roll up, roll up all those who hold tickets for the magical Zippos Circus” We was met by the smell of warm popcorn and clowns diverting the crowd through to the arena. Plenty of photo opportunities outside the seating area such as peep boards.

When entering the seating area it was breathtaking how large the space was, the seats created in a circular plan meant that wherever you sat you was bound to have a good view, we opted for sitting in the grandstand seats which had a fantastic view its slightly elevated so the children were not blocked by other adults sitting ahead which we have found to be a problem with theatre shows in the past. It was very well built, the layout itself has been exceptionally thought through.

If a member of your party has physical disability needs, please do not stress there are areas and seating plans in place which are wheelchair accessible and for people who can walk but have mobility issues there is plenty of space on the lower areas to sit and be comfortable. With regards to a bathroom, I didn't personally ask to use them therefore cannot comment on that area.

The ring master took centre stage and the show begun, flashing lights, Lazers, bubbles, balloons, clapping and cheering. The crowd was encouraged to make noise so if you have a child who is sound or sensory sensitive, I'd advise looking into one of the more relaxed sessions as it can be overwhelming if children have these needs.

Rafael de Carlos opened the show with his fantastic juggling skills the children were totally impressed with the number of footballs he could balance and juggle at the same time.

The Beautiful Vlad and Viktoria left us in awe watching them twirl and balance under the lights of the tent! Adding some hold your breath moments as they balanced at great heights.

Bubble man was also good fun he actually chooses a member of the crowd to help with his acts, so if you sit ringside, you likely be chosen to participate in an act, whether it be talking park in a trick or simple getting to pet the “wild puppet animals”

Trapeze acts and gymnastic performed by the lovely Gracia sisters. Astonishing acrobatics, thrilling aerial performances, dazzling dancers, amazing juggling and unique specialities together with a friendly host of comedy characters, Dancing, puppets, hula girls and Mongolian warriors who performed with outstanding precision with skipping ropes jumping backflips and human towers, the show had it all! Glitter and pizazz which left me and the girls with mouths open from the beautiful well carried out acts we had just observed.

The show lasted around 45 minutes which is just long enough for littles. There is no break in between acts therefore I'd say use the bathrooms or encourage your littles too prior to the show.

We enjoyed every moment and left the show saying “wow that was amazing”

I would love to go back for the summer show, Zippos Circus will be touring from springtime with a nationwide travelling tour for 2024! The show features an international cast of talented circus performers guaranteed to entertain the whole family. There are new stars and firm favourites.

Tips for other families, if you can take along some snacks for the children (avoid nuts), water as the arena is very warm and try to avoid sitting behind a beam as this may restrict viewing, use the bathroom before the show begins and arrive slightly early to take your seats.

10/10 from Little Ladies London! The children enjoyed it, we the parents enjoyed it and from the looks of it, all of the other families were having a whale of a time As well.
