Port Lympne Wildlife Reserve.

Updated: Jan 21

We spent the day at Port Lympne wildlife reserve which is home to over 900 animals.

The animals have enormous space in comparison to other sanctuaries I have been to which is pretty special, their lives are extremely comfortable, you can clearly see the animals are well looked after and loved.

Parking onsite is easy. There is plenty of spaces and a kind gentleman to direct you into the nearest spot.

We started by walking through the wallaby enclosure where you can get up close to the cute creatures then heading towards Basecamp for a coffee and a snack before hopping on board one of safari trucks to journey out to the South American, Asian and African Experiences.

I was expecting small jeep type car to take us but it's more like a huge tractor with an extension on the back to load up more passengers.

We saw lots of antelope, a zebra, giraffes from afar, water buffalo, rhinos, ostrich and gorillas.

The safari truck was around a 1hr drive and I would highly recommend this. The children were so excited to see the animals roaming free, I do wish we had booked the giraffe feeding experience but this comes at a price of £80pp.

The walking trail is an extremely hard, now if you have children under the age of 4 do bring the buggy (you will need it) wear good sturdy shoes/trainers and try to pack light because the walk is intense.

If you are someone with medical conditions which affect your mobility I do not recommend this for you, as a 30 year old healthy fit woman I struggled with some of the walking. There is a lot of hills up and down. You have been warned...

The rhino paddocks are where you will begin your walking route. Later you'll continue your adventure to Carnivore Territory, home to mighty dinosaurs, big cats, small cats and more.

We loved seeing the Bears and the meerkats and best of all discovering giant prehistoric dinosaurs with their babies in the dinosaur forest.

We stopped for a spot of lunch at babydolls, to be honest we probably could of skipped this and done with a few sandwiches as its took up a good 1.5hrs of our time at the reserve.

Walking up the hills on a full stomach nearly made me jump in with the bears for a nap!

Overall it was an ok Italian restaurant serving the basics pizza and pasta.

Journing onto "palace of the apes" which is a really cool huge play area for the cheeky chaps, we managed to see feeding time with the baboons which was amazing they were so funny the girls loved watching them.

Finally reaching the top of the park we ended our journey with ice cream and viewing the big cats such as the tigers and lions with their cute cubs, nicely bringing our experience to an end.

Port Lympne was up there on my bucket list and I am glad to have ticked it off, If I was to return it would have to be to stay a night or two to gain the whole experience. Tempting port lympne in a day is pretty exhausting.

The accommodation looked beautiful and all the guests looked like they was thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Lets not forget that port lympne are leaders in fundraising and charity work for endangered species, your admission helps them to save rare and endangered animals!

Gift Aid admission prices (£22) include a donation to the parks conservation work and enable them to claim Gift Aid on your admission.

Thanks for reading
